THE HISTORY OF YFMA The YFMA, or Your Free Members Area, originally known as Graphics UG, was started in 2004 as a basically graphics oriented community. With time, we expanded our member base, and finances, and due to popular demand, we started giving away free hosting for our more dedicated members on our server. It was then started by Keith Whelpton, current President, and Aaron Sledright, current Vice President. Mohan K., aka Neo Garfield, current Chief of Staff, joined during the initial phase as a moderator, and soon became an Administrator along with Keith and Aaron. As we progressed, there arose a need for a better, more catchy name. Thus, Keith put in one of his already owned domains, and YFMA was formed in early 2006. It was at this time that David Emmet, current Head of Development, joined us. Thus, the managerial cadre was formed, including Keith, Aaron, David, and Mohan, and were called the Hi-4. The team worked effectively towards building a better community, understanding user needs, and bringing in innovative products. The community today acts as a technology community, with the catchphrase, "forum for the chic geek". This catchphrase was coined by Steve(Moderator) in a competition. We mainly deal with the technological aspects, including Internet, software, hardware, games, consoles, webmasters, SEO, Graphics design, website design, coding, and webhosting. Webhosting forms one of the core operatives of YFMA. We believe that any webmaster in the making requires an area to tinkle and meddle with, to make mistakes, and to learn from them. We also want to make sure that every person has an equal oppurtunity to utilize the web generation. Or rather, at a more present note, we believe that every individual should be given an equal chance to cash in on the Web 2.0 generation. Thus, we provide 2 basic tools for a webmaster. One, webspace to establish an individuality. And two, a community to discuss, debate, and conclude on methods for better development, and marketing, of a website, or a technology. YFMA currently plays host to more than 550 members, with more than 120 hosted accounts. Each day, hundreds of thousands of visitors visit these various member websites. These member websites have gained more fame, glory and popularity that YFMA itself! But there is no reason for envy. Just reason for silent happiness. Since it proves that YFMA is succeeding in its aim. The Hi-4 are the administrators of YFMA. It consists of Keith Whelpton, Founder, David Emmet, President & Lead Programmer, Paul Renaissance, Owner, and Mohan K., Chief of Staff. Keith and David hails from the town of Sheffield, in UK. Keith enjoys
managing YFMA affairs, and frequently comes up with brilliant ideas
for making money. He is a designer, and enjoys playing, writing and recording music in his free time.(Vincent White Music)
Paul will be added soon... Mohan K. (aka Neo Garfield) is a native of India. He maintains the day-to-day activities of YFMA, and takes care of the web design part. More of a graphic designer and web designer than a coder, he helps out in the development of YFMA where graphics support is necessary. An avid reader and a writer, he enjoys blogging during his free time, and is the author of a few moderately famous blogs. Aaron VanSledRight hails from the United States. He was one of the two founders of YFMA. He put alot of work into YFMA and deserves a special mention, even though he no longer has enough time to help run the website with the HI-4. As YFMA does not display advertisements on member websites, we rely mainly on donations to keep our servers running. We have an additional revenue from the advertisements shown in the forums, and blog, which keeps our development going. This is a list of recent top donors. You can also Donate to keep YFMA running.
